Individual Web Project

For this project you are to build a web site/landing page for the business/software concept you have been refining with Daniel. This page/site should explain your concept to a group of potential investors/stakeholders. There are no design parameters for the page other than it must have a consistent look and feel across the site and a have an audience appropriate design aesthetic.

You are to use the methodology and design techniques covered in this course. You are not allowed to use a template as the basis of your project but you may use a starter document like HTML5 Boilerplate. Below are a list of the site requirements that should be included in the project in order to receive a passing grade.

Site Requirements

Mastery Requirements (Maximum Grade of 90%)

  • Properly Marked-up HTML (Must Validate HTML5)
  • Use CSS for Layouts (Must Validate)
  • All images in the site must be optimized for the web and have proper ALT text
  • No dead or broken links
  • Proper Directory Structure / File Management / Naming Conventions
  • Use of Description Meta Tags, Language Declaration, Author, Title (Head Content)
  • At least one Registration Form that inserts data into your “Person Table” in the database you designed. The form should be completed by 3/12/2018 in preparation for integrating it with your database. We will build this together in class the week of 3/5/18.
  • One Instance of Functioning JavaScript
  • Graphic Design – thoughtful use of color / consistent styling / audience appropriate
  • Usability – consistent navigation elements / good contrast (readability)

Above Mastery (A Level Work)

In addition to all elements required for mastery present. You can learn more about one or more of the following techniques and integrate it into your site.

  • Font-Embedding
  • API Data Queries
  • JavaScript Libraries
  • Server Side Includes (SSI)
  • Print Stylesheet
  • Media Queries
  • HTML5 Audio, Video, Geolocation with Fallback

There are tons of other things that qualify for above Mastery. Just ask if you need clarification.

The project deadline is 3/26/18. A full project must be submitted by the deadline in order to be eligible for full credit. Arrangements for late submissions must be made with faculty prior to Spring Break, and will not be eligible for full credit.
