Arkansas State Parks Microsite

  • Client: Arkansas State Parks
  • Task: To build a three page promotional web site for a state park of your choice. You can select any park from the following list – https://www.arkansasstateparks.com/parks
  • Content for this project should be extracted from the park page you select. There are images in a carousel on each park page which you can use and there are generic logos and assets included below.
  • Required Files
    • Content can be mined from each park page. Be sure to include information on trails and other activities related to the park.
    • Additional Logos

Site Goals

  • Target Audience: Anyone looking to get out and enjoy the state’s abundant supply of state parks
  • Look and Feel:  The client has requested the look and feel of the micro-site be geared toward communicating the natural beauty of the state and highlighting the various recreation opportunities. Visual design should be inspired by current design standards visible on the current state parks web site (https://www.arkansasstateparks.com/media-kit) and you could also get inspiration from the State Parks Guide (https://bluetoad.com/publication/?m=59786&i=716932&p=2&ver=html5)

  • Title: Arkansas State Parks : Park Name
  • Three Pages
    • Home Page – Provides Product Overview
    • Lodging / Camping
    • Frequently Asked Questions / Activities

 

Arkansas Parks has provided you with a list of technical requirements for their site. In order for project sign-off to occur the following elements must be present. (Mastery)

  • Properly Marked-up HTML (Must Validate)
  • Use CSS for Layouts (Must Validate / No inline styles)
  • Proper Titles for all pages
  • Create at least three pages that are linked to one another with a consistent navigation element
  • All images in the site must be optimized for the web and have proper ALT text
  • No dead or broken links
  • Proper Directory Structure / File Management / Naming Conventions
  • At least one link to the Internet (External Web site)
  • At least one Email Link
  • Use of Keywords and Description Meta Tags (Head Content)
  • Consistent footer with a contact link
  • Consistent Graphic Design
  • Add <meta name="robots" content="noindex"> to the head of your document to avoid search engines from indexing this page.

There is a design bonus for completion of the project with all of the above-listed components

Site Hosting

Please develop this project in your Github Codespaces. The completed projects should be stored in a dedicated directory named parks and linked from the course homepage.

Projects will not be accepted unless these criteria have been met. Once complete please publish your project to GitHub.
